CHS Expansion

Bringing a Soldier Home

There’s no place like home. Although Sergeant Wil Bryce is ready to return to Iraq to fight for his country, he’s glad to be back in Florence.

Bryce isn’t one for sitting on the sidelines. The part-time guardsman and full-time firefighter volunteered for his second tour of duty in Iraq because he felt strongly about the work that the 132nd Military Police Company was doing in the war-torn country. But on January 12, 2008, an improvised explosive device (IED) changed everything for the Florence native. One minute he was heading toward Sadr City; the next minute an explosion ripped through Bryce’s Humvee.

Accidents happen. Carolinas Urgent Care can help. The new facility, located at 1925 Hoffmeyer Road in Five Points, provides prompt care for a wide range of illnesses and injuries. No appointments will be needed; patients can walk in any time between 10:00 a.m. and 8:00 p.m. Monday through Friday and between 9:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. on Saturdays.

Pee Dee Orthopaedics Opens Office on Carolinas Hospital System Main Campus

Carolinas Hospital System is proud to announce that Pee Dee Orthopaedics, P.A./Pee Dee Spine Center has expanded and opened a new office at 1580 Freedom Boulevard in Suite 100 of the Freedom Medical Plaza. This is the same building which also houses the hospital’s Physicians’ Surgery Center. Office hours are Monday through Thursday from 8 am until 5 pm and Friday from 8 am until 12 noon.
