Carolinas Hospital System Announces Electrophysiology Services
Florence, SC (April 25, 2012) – Carolinas Hospital System is excited to announce that Electrophysiology has been added to the Cardiac Services Program. Electrophysiology services will be under the direction of Dr. Prabal Kumar Guha, Cardiologist.
Dr. Guha is board certified in internal medicine and cardiovascular disease. He is associated with Pee Dee Cardiology Associates and is a member of the medical staff at Carolinas Hospital System.
Cardiac Electrophysiology is the study of electrical activity in the heart. The Electrophysiologist, such as Dr. Guha, diagnose and treat interruptions and misdirected electrical flow in the heart. According to the Heart Rhythm Foundation, currently in the United States there are over two million people that have been diagnosed with atrial fibrillation (a heart rhythm disorder) and more than 160,000 new cases are diagnosed each year. Many of these cases can be cured with a simple procedure performed by an elctrophysiologist, called an ablation.
Dr. Guha specializes in diagnostic cardiac catheterizations, echocardiography, and nuclear cardiology. He is now receiving consultations and referrals for electrophysiology procedures including pacemaker, implantable cardioverter defibrillator (ICD), BiVentricular ICD, diagnostic electrophysiology, radiofrequency ablation and cryoablation. To schedule a consultation, please call Pee Dee Cardiology Associates at 843-667-1891.
