Carolinas Hospital System Honors Volunteens

Carolinas Hospital System recently hosted its Volunteen Recognition Celebration. The twenty teens in the program performed with interest and compassion while learning about the health care industry.  They served in a variety of areas which included Day Hospital, Employee Health, Endoscopy, Information Desk (Main Desk and The Women’s Center), Marketing, Materials Management, Nursing Floors, Nursing Discharge Helper and Volunteer Services. Collectively, the teens donated 1088 hours of service in just two months.

Tonda Haigler, Assistant CEO, shared with the teens the hospital’s appreciation for their service and our hope that they gained from their experience in the health care industry. Sheree Meadows, Volunteer Services Coordinator, presented certificates to all participants. Additional awards were presented to the following:

Best Essay Awards were presented to Kayla Hodge and Virgil Scott, who, as part of their applications for the program, both wrote excellent essays about their hopes for community service.

Service Excellence Awards were presented to Larry Barnoski, Matthew Cudd, Allison Heustess, Talor Hewitt and Kayla Roberts who were nominated by the hospital departments in which they served. These volunteers consistently demonstrated positive attitudes, wore smiles and provided service excellence.

The 2012 Most Hours of Service Award was presented to Larry Barnoski for donating 78 hours of service.  Congratulations to all the teen volunteers for outstanding performances this summer.
