PET/CT
More accurate than a PET or CT scan alone, this non-invasive and painless procedure can provide earlier and more comprehensive diagnosis of disease. Rather than detecting changes in the physical size or structure of internal organs, PET/CT detects changes in actual cell function. It can also provide more detailed information on the presence or spread of many types of tumors, help to evaluate the effectiveness of radiation or chemotherapy, provide information about the condition (viability) of the heart muscle, used to help evaluate patients before performing bypass surgery, provide information for pre-surgical evaluation of epilepsy patients, provide diagnosis of dementias and movement disorders and even help monitor the progress of therapy.
64-Slice CT Scanner
This system has the ability to look inside the human body in a completely non-invasive way. Known in full as the 64-Slice GE Lightspeed Computed Tomography (CT) System, this scanner provides sharper image quality with enhanced details, allowing doctors to see and more accurately diagnose disease and injury. Its technology can detect anything from blood clots to cancer, internal bleeding to infection, heart disease to kidney function, and more, allowing accurate diagnosis and treatment sooner rather than later.
Breast MR Imaging
MRI of the breast is rapidly becoming a very important tool in the evaluation of women with suspected or known breast cancer. These examinations acquire hundreds of pictures in various projections, providing a three-dimensional image of the breast that allows radiologists to find cancers in nearly 100% of cases. Based on all accounts, breast MRI is capable of producing amazing results. Breast cancers as small as 3 mm in diameter, "the size of a small pea", can be detected with this highly sensitive technique.
The Selenia™ digital mammography system from Hologic™ is the latest technology for breast cancer detection. Digital mammography is different from conventional mammography in how the image of the breast is acquired and, more importantly, viewed. The radiologist can magnify the images, increase or decrease the contrast and invert the black and white values while reading the images. These features allow the radiologist to evaluate microcalcifications and focus on areas of concern.
