Registration Information
Thank you for your interest in the Carolinas Hospital System Registration Department. Our primary focus is to make the registration process as pleasant and convenient as possible for our patients.
In addition to our extensive range of outpatient services, our hospital also provides our community with high quality inpatient care. Any test that is done in the hospital requires you to register and sign the appropriate consent forms so please plan to arrive 30 minutes prior to your appointment time for this process.
Pre-Registration
To help save you time and to provide for an even more efficient process, we offer our patients the option of pre-registration. Pre-registered patients will have an advantage because we will work with you to ensure that as much of the paperwork will be completed in advance as possible. To pre-register or for more information about the registration process, please call us at 843.674.4543, and we will be glad to assist you.
Upon your arrival for outpatient services or an inpatient stay, you will be greeted by a registration representative. You can sign in at Central Registration conveniently located on the first floor of the hospital directly behind the Main Lobby Information Desk. You will be directed to the next available registrar who will verify your current information and review the consent forms for your signature. You may also be asked to sign other forms that may be required by Medicare or other regulatory agencies.
To help ensure that the registration process will flow smoothly and efficiently, please be prepared to present the following when you arrive:
- All current health insurance information, including your insurance card
- Physician orders and prescriptions for any tests
- Referrals from your Primary Care Physician may be required by your insurance carrier
- If you are scheduled for surgery or are arriving for inpatient services, you will be asked about your wishes regarding living will/durable power of attorney options
- Be prepared to make partial payment and/or discuss financial arrangements when your co-payment and deductible expense is due
Inpatient Registration
Registration representatives will need a copy of your doctor's orders specifying whether you will be a Day Hospital, Observation or Inpatient. Admitting will need your demographics, insurance information and appropriate signatures. This process can take anywhere from 1 - 2 hours depending on how many tests are being ordered by the physician. If all tests have been done at the doctor's office, please be sure the doctor's office faxes the results to our pre-admission testing area.
On the day of your procedure, please arrive approximately 1 ½ hours prior to your procedure unless directed
Outpatient Registration
If you require outpatient services, you will need to sign in at the Central Registration desk. The next available registrar will verify your current information and promptly process your order for outpatient services. You will then be directed to your destination. A reminder... pre-registered patients will have an advantage since most of the paperwork will have been completed in advance.
