SUPPORT GROUPS
CAROLINAS AMPUTEE SUPPORT GROUP
Thursday, July 1 from 1 pm - 1:45 pm in Carolinas Rehabilitation Hospital's gym at Cedar Tower, 121 East Cedar Street in Florence. This support group has been established to provide opportunities for amputees of all kinds from all backgrounds to interact, share information and address issues facing those who have lost a limb. Whether your amputation was recent or decades ago, whether it was due to disease, accident or congenital defect, all amputees are invited to attend the monthly meetings. The Amputee Coalition of America will provide materials and information for attendees. Please join us as we establish this important support group. For more information, please call 661-3933.
CONGESTIVE HEART FAILURE SUPPORT GROUP
A program designed to provide education for individuals who suffer from congestive heart failure or who may be at risk. Patients and family members will discuss topics such as: What is Congestive Heart Failure? How is Congestive Heart Failure Diagnosed and Treated? and Medications/Diet. This group meets the third Tuesday of each month in the Cardiac/Pulmonary Rehabilitation Classroom of Carolinas Hospital System, Medical Mall B, 805 Pamplico Highway in Florence. DIABETES SUPPORT GROUP
Wednesday, July 7, from 11:00 am - 12:00 noon in the main hospital, Medical Mall A, Suite 120, 805 Pamplico Highway in Florence. This support group meets each month to provide updated information on the treatment of diabetes. Health care professionals provide answers to questions for diabetic patients and their families. HEART VISITORS PROGRAM
This support group is for people recovering from heart disease. One important function of the group is the Heart Visitor Program, where members visit patients who are awaiting heart surgery at local hospitals. They provide the patient and his or her family with support and encouragement until discharged from the hospital. For more information, please call 674-2242.
OSTOMY SUPPORT GROUP
Thursday, July 15 from 1:00 pm - 2:00 pm in the main hospital's Education Classroom, Medical Mall B, 805 Pamplico Highway in Florence. Members can exchange practical, personal experiences about their ostomies and encourage each other to return to active, productive lives. For more information, please call 674-5645.
PROSTATE CANCER SUPPORT GROUP

STROKE SUPPORT GROUP
This group focuses on those in the community who have suffered a stroke and provides an opportunity to share and learn valuable information on adjustment and recovery after a stroke. The group meets on the third Thursday every month from 4:00 pm - 5:00 pm at Carolinas Hospital System's Outpatient Rehabilitation Center, 1925 Hoffmeyer Road in Florence. All education classes for expectant parents are offered free of charge as a community service.
CHILDBIRTH PREPARATION CLASS
A series of classes, starting the 1st Tuesday of every month (except on holidays). The Women's Center will be offering this class in the Medical Office Building at 1590 Freedom Boulevard, Suite 101 in Florence. It is designed to prepare the mother-to-be and her labor companion for the birthing experience, focusing on signs of early labor, comfort measures to use in labor and breathing relaxation techniques.
