Orthopedic & Sports Medicine Program
The Orthopedic and Sports Medicine Program focuses on assisting clients in maximizing their abilities to improve outcomes and functions, quality of life, and to reach the fullest potential possible.
The rehabilitation process begins as the physical therapist identifies the physical, musculoskeletal, functional, social and psychological needs of the client following disability. This process consists of developing an individualized plan of care that will assure the client of attaining the highest possible level of independence and maximum functional use of the affected body part. Each plan of care is goal and outcome oriented.
Components of the plan of care may include a General Orthopedic Program, Aquatic Program, Wound Care Program, Fitness After Rehab Program, Amputee Program, Myofascial Release Program and Lymphe dema Program.
Occupational Rehabilitation Program
Outpatient Rehabilitation Staff
The Occupational Rehabilitation Program provides services to injured workers with the goal of a return to work or continued employment. Emphasis is placed on improving the worker's strength, flexibility, endurance and tolerance for job-related tasks. Promotion of work performance and work culture is also a focus of the program.
The interdisciplinary team identifies physical, behavioral, psychological and work-specific needs in developing an individualized plan of care. The professional staff, including physical therapist, occupational therapist and psychologist work with the client, their employer and insurance carrier to direct a plan of care that is goal and outcome oriented.
Vestibular Rehabilitation Program
The Vestibular Rehabilitation Program provides services for individuals experiencing balance, posture, mobility and dizziness problems.
To begin the assessment process clients may undergo an Equitest Evaluation, an advanced computerized test designed to evaluate balance problems by challenging visual and motor responses. A vestibular assessment may also be performed in the clinic to evaluate vertigo symptoms experienced with position changes, strength and endurance and ambulatory deviations.
Upon completion of the assessment process, an individualized plan of care is developed which may include eye-head coordination exercises, balance retraining, habituation exercises and general conditioning. This goal and outcome oriented plan is executed with the client by an interdisciplinary team which may include an ear/nose/throat physician, physical therapist, occupational therapist, psychologist and case manager.
Neuro Rehabilitation Program
The Neuro Rehabilitation Program works closely with individuals to improve walking and communication skills, as well as self-care, vocational and leisure activities. The goal of the program is to return individuals to a more productive and independent lifestyle.
The program utilizes a comprehensive team approach that includes the medical director (a boardcertified physiatrist), physical therapist, occupational therapist, speech therapist and psychologist.
The team works closely to identify and evaluate the physical, emotional, social and psychological needs of the client. Upon completion of the assessment process, an individualized plan of care is developed that is goal and outcome oriented.
Hand Therapy Program
Acute and TCU Therapy Staff
The Hand Therapy Program provides services for individuals who, through trauma or disease, have decreased function in a hand or upper extremity.
The rehabilitation process begins with an occupational therapist, who specializes in treatment of the hand and upper extremities, identifying the physical, musculoskeletal, social and psychological needs of the client following disability.
The process leads to the development of an individualized plan of care that is goal and outcome oriented, assuring the client attains the highest possible level of independence and maximum functional use of the affected extremity.
Day Treatment Program
The Day Treatment Program emphasizes transitioning an individual back into his or her community in as independent a lifestyle as possible.
The program offers a comprehensive team approach that includes the medical director (a board-certified physiatrist), physical therapist, occupational therapist, speech pathologist, recreational therapist and social worker. A vocational rehabilitation therapist and psychologist are also consulted as needed.
The team works closely to identify and evaluate the physical, emotional, social and psychological needs of the client. Upon completion of the assessment, an individualized plan of care is developed which is goal and outcome oriented. Focusing on the plan, the team works with the client to achieve his or her highest level of independence on the job, at home and in the community.
Psychological Rehabilitation Services Program
The Psychological Rehabilitation Services Program addresses the complex emotional needs of clients and their families during the rehabilitation process. Our expertise includes working with sustained neurological impairments such as stroke or head injury, as well as clients who feel undue stress due to medical conditions or pre-existing factors.
Staff involvement begins with a thorough neuropsychological evaluation to assess the client's problems, their impact on his or her functional status and the expectations of recovery.
Clients are treated for cognitive, behavioral and emotional problems, as well as the impact of those conditions on the family. Psychological services are extended to the families of clients in recognition of the crucial role they play in recovery and their need to understand the often puzzling behavior of their loved ones.
