Heat Stroke
Symptoms include:
- Body temperature rising to 106 degrees or higher
- Shallow breathing
- A weak, rapid pulse
- Confusion or loss of consciousness
- Lack of perspiration
Treatment for victims
Follow the steps below, but also monitor breathing and heart rate, and be prepared to administer CPR.
- Move the person to a cool, shady area.
- Give the person cool water, but no more than four ounces every 15 minutes.
- If the person is not responding, go to the Emergency Department.
When to call a Doctor
Emergency medical attention is needed immediately, begin treatment and call 911.
