Heat Stroke

Symptoms include:

  • Body temperature rising to 106 degrees or higher
  • Shallow breathing
  • A weak, rapid pulse
  • Confusion or loss of consciousness
  • Lack of perspiration

Treatment for victims

Follow the steps below, but also monitor breathing and heart rate, and be prepared to administer CPR.

  • Move the person to a cool, shady area.
  • Give the person cool water, but no more than four ounces every 15 minutes.
  • If the person is not responding, go to the Emergency Department.

When to call a Doctor

Emergency medical attention is needed immediately, begin treatment and call 911.
